WELCOME TO MAGNOLIA
Having grown up in Seattle, Bob and I have both found something to love in all the unique pockets of our incredible city. That said, we of course have particular spots that are especially dear to our hearts. Magnolia is one of them.
Magnolia can feel like a world away, even though it's just across a short bridge from the rest of Seattle. There is a genuine sense of neighborhood here—one shaped by long-held traditions, independent businesses, generations of families, and a community that knows how to celebrate each season.
The Magnolia Village is at the heart of it all. Summer brings the Saturday farmers market, with local farmers, food makers, flowers, and neighborhood favorites filling McGraw Street. Magnolia Summerfest brings music, food, and activities for all ages, while fall brings seasonal celebrations and community traditions. Winterfest lights up the Village in December, when local businesses and neighbors come together to celebrate the holidays.
It is this combination of community and place that makes Magnolia feel so distinct.

Magnolia sits on a peninsula between Elliott Bay and Salmon Bay, and nature is woven into everyday life.
The crown jewel is Discovery Park, Seattle's largest public park, with more than 500 acres of forests, meadows, trails, beaches, and open space. A hike through the park eventually brings you to the water and the picturesque West Point Lighthouse, where rocky shoreline meets Puget Sound.
There are also tennis and pickleball courts, a playground, wetlands, and abundant opportunities to watch birds and wildlife. For many Magnolia residents, Discovery Park isn't simply an amenity—it's part of the rhythm of living here.
Magnolia Village has managed to retain something increasingly rare in a city neighborhood: a collection of independently owned businesses where you can accomplish much of your daily life without leaving the neighborhood.
Start with coffee at Serendipity, dinner at Mondello Ristorante or Pink Salt, or a drink at the Magnolia Village Pub. Metropolitan Market makes it easy to pull together anything from a Tuesday night dinner to an elaborate dinner party.
There are also plenty of reasons to linger. Vixen Collection combines women's fashion, gifts, and spa services, while Magnolia's Bookstore is the kind of independent neighborhood bookstore worth supporting. Magnolia Garden Center has been a part of the Village for more than 25 years and remains a beloved destination for plants, gardening, pottery, and gifts. And for those of us with four-legged family members, Floof is a neighborhood favorite for dog grooming. Locally owned by dear friends of ours, Floof is known for genuinely caring about its furry clients and providing exceptional service.
And there is something particularly satisfying about having so many locally owned businesses within your own neighborhood. I've personally learned that on a snow day, we really don't have to leave Magnolia.
Magnolia Homes and Architecture
Magnolia was largely developed in the early 20th century, and its residential streets reflect that history. You'll find formal Tudor and Colonial Revival homes alongside classic Seattle Craftsman-style houses and an abundance of mid-century homes.
Many properties take advantage of Magnolia's elevated position, with commanding views of Puget Sound, Elliott Bay, the Olympic Mountains, or simply a glimpse of water through the trees.
The neighborhood has a peaceful, almost village-like quality, but it isn't disconnected from the city. Downtown Seattle, Ballard, Queen Anne, and the rest of the city are all close by—when you decide you want to leave.
Perhaps that's the magic of Magnolia: you can be in Seattle without feeling like you have to be in the middle of Seattle.
